Merrymeeting Forest is a tranquil ridge-top forest overlooking Merrymeeting Lake with exceptional privacy, a well-managed timber resource, recreational trails and a small field with sweeping views. The forest enjoys good town road and right-of-way access via a variety of road types. A network of forest trails traverse the property, offering ample interior access. The forest encompasses a series of small ridges interspersed with small valleys that create brooks between them. There are numerous potential building sites within the forest, although they would require clearing and road building. Views of Merrymeeting Lake are available at mid-slope through the recently-thinned forest and can be enhanced with further clearing. There is a small, off-grid camp in the field. It could easily be moved to another location. The forest has a long history of stewardship and decades of sustainable management have resulted in a well-stocked forest comprised of predominantly hardwooods, led by red oak.
